Atlas Sets up Naval Support Centre in Thailand

Atlas Elektronik, a world leading provider of naval electronic systems and exhibiting at D&S 2012, has founded a Naval Support Centre (NSC) in Thailand in order to support the Royal Thai Navy. This Atlas NSC is a JV company with strong Thai shareholding. Based on the good and trustful cooperation with Suprom Chaiyakul of Prompaiboon Associates, this JV gives continuity to a long-lasting success story.
Volker Paltzo, Managing Director of Atlas Elektronik, stated: “This Naval Support Centre will strengthen our close relationship to the Royal Thai Navy. It will make the support for the Royal Thai Navy easier to access, quicker in its reaction and significantly more cost effective.”
This Support Centre will have mainly Thai service engineers as the local point of con-tact. These experts will provide hands-on support for all Atlas systems operated by the Royal Thai Navy.
“Atlas will use this Naval Support Centre to further improve its service quality, namely by transferring key know-how about the support and upkeep of Atlas’ systems into the hands of the Thai service engineers working within the NSC. The Royal Thai Navy will additionally benefit from the technical know-how and close network of experts in Bremen,” said Joerg Schweingruber, Head of Atlas Services.
Atlas has delivered sonar systems, combat systems and minehunting systems for more than a dozen frigates, corvettes, offshore patrol vessels and minehunting boats of the Royal Thai Navy.
