IDEX 2015: GDELS will present its DESERT PIRANHA with the new CMI Cockerill 30/40 Turret

General Dynamics European Land Systems (GDELS) Desert PIRANHA 8x8 will be exhibited at this year’s International Defence Exhibition and Conference (IDEX) in Abu Dhabi. The Desert PIRANHA is a variant of the latest PIRANHA 5 specifically designed and built for the demanding climate and challenging terrain of the Middle East. It has been extensively tested under extreme conditions in the desert and rocky mountain ranges and participated successfully in summer trials in the Middle East.

The Desert PIRANHA benefits from a sophisticated drivetrain, which provides the vehicle with outstanding mobility both off-road and on-road. The latter is becoming more important with the increasing number of missions in urban terrain.

A modular and scalable protection concept allows for quick protection upgrades against an ever-changing arsenal of threats, thus ensuring adequate protection at all times. The interior capacity of the Desert PIRANHA is among the largest in its category and offers plenty of space for multiple missions.

The Desert PIRANHA’s electronic architecture was developed to facilitate the easy and seamless integration of even complex systems and with an open and scalable infrastructure to cater for future systems. Thus the Desert PIRANHA has growth potential for the future upgrades and enhancements.

GDELS’ Desert PIRANHA is on display at CMI’s exhibition stand (stand number 12-C35) fitted with the new two-man 30/40mm Cockerill 30/40” turret.
