FIDAE 2016: Airbus Showcases Broad Technology Portfolio

Airbus showcases its full portfolio of products, from helicopters and defence to space, and is present with its dedicated Latin American team at the 19th edition of FIDAE .

Airbus Defence & Space (DS) has a strong presence, with a C295 multi-mission aircraft from the Colombian Air Force on static display, and also participates in the Second Edition of the Space Conference, as well as the Latin America Remote Sensing Week (LARS) parallel events that take place during the Show.

Airbus Helicopters showcases three rotorcraft from its light helicopter range: An H125 in its utility version, an H130 for private and business transport, and one H145 configured for law enforcement missions. Airbus Helicopters has 1,450 helicopters in Latin American service, accounting for 31% of the region’s operating fleet.

In the region, Airbus DS has sold more than 150 aircraft to the armed forces of 13 countries. In addition to this, in the Space sector, Airbus DS has built two powerful Earth observation systems: The Chilean Air Force owns and operates the SSOT-FaSat Charlie satellite; and the company was selected as the sole prime contractor to develop, construct and launch the first Earth observation optical satellite system for Peru (expected to be delivered in less than two years, offering a sub-metric ground resolution of 70cm).

"Airbus Group is a truly global organisation, with assembly and manufacturing facilities across Europe, Asia, China, North and South America," Alberto Robles, Head of Latin America for Airbus Group, told MT. "No other aerospace and defence company can replicate this scale or breadth of partnership and commitment, and this is reflected in FIDAE’s status as one of Airbus Group’s key events for 2016.  For more than 40 years Airbus Group has proudly supported Chile, as well as most of Latin America’s countries and airlines through commercial, industrial and humanitarian collaboration. We are delighted to have the opportunity to showcase our products and continue our relationships here at FIDAE once again."

Latin America is one of Airbus’s key markets, and the group employs nearly 1,000 people, at 17 sites across seven countries (Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, El Salvador, Mexico, and Peru). Airbus is a valued partner of Chile’s Armed Forces, with 12 light and medium military transport aircraft, in theconfigurations C212, CN235, and C295, in operation.
