FIDAE 2016: F-22 RAPTOR Back in Chile

For the nineteenth edition of one of the prime aerospace exhibitions of the American continent, the F-22 RAPTOR  has part again at FIDAE, with flight demonstrations only at Pudahuel Air Base. The fighter aircraft from the US Air Force (USAF) is added to other confirmed aircraft for FIDAE 2016 like the F-16, F-5, KC-135, and the Aerobatic Team “Halcones” of the Chilean Air Force; the Super TUCANO aircraft of Escuadrilha da Fumaça, from Brazil; and KTP1 from the Peruvian Air Force, among other air attractions.

The F-22 RAPTOR combines supercruise, supermaneuverability, stealth, and sensor fusion in a single weapons platform. The F-22 is able to accomplish air-to-air and air-to-surface missions, by allowing the comprehensive fulfilment of the essential operation purposes for an air force of the 21st Century. Its sensorial capacity, information and weapon system provide an advantage under threat situation. The aircraft, designed by Lockheed Martin, has a sophisticated sensor able to detect, identify, shoot and score air to air threats before being detected. The advanced cockpit design and the sensor fusion improve the pilot alert capacity. This fighter aircraft flights up to a 2.25 Mach speed that means, 2,400 kilometers per hour, performing swift movements in all directions. Likewise, it has maximum take-off weight of 38,000 kilograms and two-engine pitch vectoring turbofans and thrust with afterburner. It has a price over US$ 200 million with radars and missiles included.
