Eurosatory 2016: 360° Local Situational Awareness System

KTK Kommunikationstechnik and First Sensor present their 360° Local Situational Awareness System (LSAS) on Eurosatory. The system is shown in a live demonstration on a Protected Mission Module Carrier G5 (PMMC G5) from FFG Flensburger Fahrzeugbau. The overall technical integration was realized by KTK Kommunikationstechnik who is specialized in enhanced vision aids for military land systems.

The all-round view LSAS system consists of four digital HDR-CMOS cameras in specially adapted rugged housings and a software-based video processing unit. This system approach enables easy integration into a wide range of military or civil vehicles. The robust, high-performance cameras from First Sensor feature a very wide dynamic range >100 dB for difficult lighting conditions and withstand the harshest environmental conditions such as cold, heat and permanent vibrations. The platform-independent, flexible area view software can be easily integrated in various operating and image processing systems and adapted to customer requirements. The software stitches the images of the individual cameras together to form virtual, real-time images not only from a bird's eye view, but from any angle in a 360° all-round view. Further, the LSAS allows the programming of arbitrary, individual viewing angles and zoom functions for the driver, commander and crew. This increases the awareness of the vehicle surroundings, improves the maneuvering of the vehicle in difficult situations and enables a virtual window in the carrier hull.

The 360° Local Situational Awareness System can be adapted and customized to a wide range of applications such as military and commercial vehicles, special vehicles, as well as agricultural, construction and mining machines.
