SHOT Show 2015: Guns, Pistols, and other Firearms

CMMG recently announced the release of their newest AR-15-style rifles, the Mk47 Mutant T, Mutant AKM, and Mutant AKM2. The base model, the Mutant T, is chambered for the 7.62×39 cartridge, and a special receiver will take AK-47 magazines. Using a carbine-length gas system, the Mk47 uses a modified AR-10 bolt, and an AK-style latch system for magazine retention. Features include a free-floated 16.1” barrel with a 1:10 twist, an A2-style compensator, and a CMMG RKM15 KeyMod handguard.

FNH USA unveild five new FN 15 rifles, including the Tactical Carbine, the Sporting Rifle, the Patrol Carbine, MOE SLG, and a Designated Marskman Rifle. The Tactical Carbine will be chambered for the 5.56 NATO cartridge, sporting a 16” barrel and 1:7” twist. Other features of this 6.6-pound rifle will include a chrome-lined and hammer-forged barrel, an FNH 3-pronged muzzle, and a Midwest Industries LWM M-LOK 12″ hand guard. The FN15 Sporting Rifle totes a longer barrel, a muzzle break, and match-grade 18” barrel. It will be chambered in 5.56 NATO and uses a rifle-length gas system. Other standard features include a Samson Manufacturing 15″ Evolution rail, a Timney Competition Trigger, and a Magpul CTR stock and Moe pistol grip. It weighs 7.7 pounds. The Patrol Carbine features a 16″ chrome-lined barrel, Samson flip-up rear sight and a Midwest Industries 7″ quad rail hand guard. It weighs 6.6 pounds. The MOE SLG will also be chambered for the 5.56 NATO cartridge, and features upgrades like an MOE SL trigger guard, hand guard, stock, and rear back-up sight, all finished in gray. It weighs 6.8 pounds, and features a 16” barrel. The Designated Marksman is also chambered for the 5.56 NATO and features a match-grade 18” barrel. Like the sporting rifle, it features a SureFire brake, MOE pistol grip and a Timney Competition Trigger, but also includes a Magpul M-LOK 15″ hand guard, Magpul MBUS Pro sights, and an STR stock, and weighs in at 7.2 pounds.

The Barnes Precision Machine unveils their new line of .308 rifles at SHOT Show. The new CQB-10 and LR-10 rifles will be available in both a 16 inch (CQB) and 20 inch (LR) versions. The rifles feature match grade barrels that are CNC machined from Montana 416 SS barrel blanks, and are treated with Nitromet for a tough black finish that is corrosion- and heat-resistant. Other features include an Ultralite Extreme 14” hand guard with four reinforced interchangeable sling swivel inserts and a barrel nut. The billet upper and lower receivers are made of one solid piece of 7075 anodized aluminum. The lower features an ambidextrous bolt latch and adjustable tension screw. The upper houses a bolt carrier group that’s nickel boron-coated standard. Buyers have a choice of either a HIPERFIRE 24E or Geissele G2S trigger.  The rifles include BPM’s new Heavy Metal Buffer System for reduced felt recoil, and MAGPUL MBUS sights.

MasterPiece Arms (MPA), manufacturers of the MPA MAC Line of semi-auto pistols, carbines, suppressors and MPAR Rifles, announces the MPA930DMG, the first all-aluminum lower pistol from the new DMG (Defender, Machined, Grip) Series. This 9mm pistol is based on the 930sst, but includes a fully machined aluminum pistol grip and lower receiver. The 930DMG uses our fully machined grip system matched up with an all-aluminum lower receiver – significantly reducing the overall weight of the pistol. The 930DMG is chambered in 9mm, uses GLOCK style magazines, has adjustable front and rear sights, has a built-in single point sling flush cup, and mounting holes for a rear fixed or side folding stock. The MPA930DMG comes standard in “Cerakote Tungsten” coating. It is also available in Black, Gunmetal, Flat Dark Earth and Burnt Bronze Cerakote finishes. The pistol is further equipped with a side cocker, scope mount, hammer with disconnect (plus original hammer) and comes in an MPA polymer case.

Ruger unveils a new SR1911 pistol that uses an aluminum frame, called the Lightweight Commander. This .45 caliber pistol is lighter than the existing Commander-sized gun from Ruger, and uses an anodized aluminum frame instead of a stainless one. Using aluminum results in a reduction of more than 7 ounces in weight: 29.3 oz from the original 36.4 oz. The new SR1911 is a Series 70 design, and features a polished titanium feed ramp, stainless steel barrel, extended mag release button, extended thumb safety, hardwood stocks, and three-dot sights with a Novak LoMount Carry rear. Ruger is also introducing a new addition to the LCP line with the LCP Custom, featuring larger sights and a more colorful, aluminum skeletonized trigger. The new front sight is photo luminescent, which absorbs light, making it preferable for low-light situations. These small .380 ACP pistols are flat and light, though the upgraded sites do add 0.2 inches to the gun’s overall height.

The UZI PRO Pistol and UZI PRO Pistol SB are the latest handguns from Israeli Weapon Industries (IWI). The UZI PRO is a 9mm Luger Parabellum version that sports an advanced polymer pistol grip that reduces weight and incorporates an integrated magazine release button for fast and easy magazine changes. The cocking handle is located on the receiver side allowing for a full-length Picatinny rail on the top receiver cover. A short Picatinny rail is also incorporated into the polymer body, mounted below the barrel, to allow for additional accessory placement. The UZI PRO Pistol will also be offered with a side-folding Stabilizing Brace, the UZI PRO SB, produced exclusively for IWI US by SB Tactical LLC.

Dan Wesson releases a new pistol called the Silverback at the show. The 1911-style pistols will be chambered in both .45 ACP and 10mm. These single-action pistols have thumb and grip safeties, 5-inch barrels, and both calibers weigh 39 oz. unloaded. The Silverback is two-toned, featuring polished black finish, trigger, and safety,  and a stainless silver slide and skeletonized hammer. Other features include fully adjustable tritium target sights, G10 stocks, and ‘full thickness’ grips.

In September, Smith & Wesson announced the addition of four new competition-ready models to the M&P pistol line with the availability of the M&P Performance Center Ported series. Chambered in 9mm and .40 S&W and available in both a 4.25-and 5-inch barrel configuration, the M&P Performance Center Ported pistols feature a factory ported barrel and slide and a user-adjustable trigger stop so that the user can personalize their competition rigs. Precision cut ports aid in reducing muzzle flip and improve the ability to remain on target after firing. Features include an integral mounting platform on top of the slide for the adding optics, plus removable mounting brackets that allow shooters to install the corresponding mounting screws for the precise fit and height required for their sight. The M&P Performance Center Ported pistols have an MSRP of $812 and ship complete with two magazines.
