MILIPOL 2015: Reliable Off Grid Power for Emergency Response

Reliable off-grid power is a major concern for emergency service teams. For maximum efficiency and coordination mobile communication, GPS and other application equipment must function reliably.

Conventional solutions are limited: Batteries alone cannot meet the requirements in multi-day or multi-equipment scenarios, forcing operators to carry along large, heavy spare batteries. Generators produce noise and pollution, and require much maintenance. Solar modules are weather dependent. SFC power supplies with fuel cells are a silent, lightweight, non-detectable alternative.

Fuel cells are connected to batteries, which they recharge on demand, fully automatically. Thanks to the high energy density of their fuel (30 times higher than that of lead acid batteries and seven times higher than that of Li-ion batteries) operators benefit from much power at minimum weight and volume. Intelligent power management enables hybrid operation with other energy sources, e.g. solar panels.

Vehicle and Stand Alone Power - EMILY fuel cell

Communication, GPS, radio and camera systems on board of emergency vehicles require continuous power supply. Engine starts for recharging the batteries cause emissions and component wear, and, even more critical, consumption of fuel that may be scarce in an emergency environment. EMILY can also be used as a power source off the vehicle to provide energy for lights, computers, or communication equipment.

Portable Power - SFC Energy Network

For emergency rescue workers requiring portable power for their equipment a fuel cell will enable up to 80% weight savings over batteries. The SFC energy network consisting of the portable JENNY 600S fuel cell and the SFC Power Manager is a man portable, flexible fuel cell system. To enable rescue teams to use any available power source and to operate any kind of device, the SFC Power Manager can also be integrated into existing systems to simplify power logistics and reduce overall weight. It enables use of any power source including batteries, vehicle power, solar, and fuel cells and automatically adapts output voltage to the connected systems.

Power in a Box - EFOY ProCube

EFOY ProCube is a mobile, maintenance-free off-grid power supply, ready for use anytime. With an EFOY Pro fuel cell, cartridge, batteries and all wiring integrated in a robust, weatherproof box, it will provide fully automatic power within seconds.

SFC Energy fuel cell products are used by numerous international police, defence, and intelligence organisations. SFC Energy has been cooperating closely with defence organisations for over 10 years; fully approved for use by the German Armed Forces (Bundeswehr). The US Army Test and Evaluation Command uses SFC fuel cells on their test ranges to power instrumentation. SFC Energy has sold over 33,000 fuel cell systems in defence and security, off-grid industry and consumer applications worldwide.
