AUVSI 2015: Telephonics’ TruLink Wireless System

Telephonics’ TruLink Portable Transceiver (TPT) for unmanned systems launch, recovery, and maintenance operations increases operational safety and effectiveness by eliminating long cords. The TPT offers:

  • Full-duplex, hands-free, and Voice Activated (VOX) communications;
  • 31 users per channel, with six simultaneous speakers;
  • 100 channels of operation;
  • Clear communications in high noise environments; and
  • Lightweight and easy to use.

The TruLink wireless system can be integrated into any wired, existing Intercommunication System (ICS), using a TruLink Dual Port Transceiver (DPT) as the portable network interface. For a fixed, permanent solution, the TruLink Access Point (TAP) can be utilised as an interface to the ICS.
To ensure protection of sensitive communications, Telephonics offers the TruLink WindTalker Encryption Device (WED). WED, is an add-on device for the TPT that provides National Security Agency Type 1 Encryption.

In 2014, Telephonics, a wholly owned subsidiary of Griffon, announced that their AN/ZPY-4(V)1 maritime surveillance radar system successfully completed its first flight on the US Navy MQ-8B FIRE SCOUT unmanned helicopter at Webster Field in Patuxent River, MA/USA.

The AN/ZPY-4(V)1 provides the operator with a new set of capabilities including wide area surveillance and Inverse/Synthetic Aperture Radar (ISAR/SAR) imaging. In addition, Telephonics’ embedded SHARC software provides an integrated track management capability, combining radar controls and automated situational awareness functions into a single graphical user interface on the operator’s console. This advanced toolset increases FIRE SCOUT’s ability to conduct reconnaissance and surveillance missions effectively.
